Her father, Paul Andersen, was a homicide detective with the city of Baltimore, and he was her hero. Jill was the typical “daddy’s little girl.” But when Jill was 14, she became exposed to the seedy underground of corrupt police work. Paul had been leading a group of disgruntled officers dealing drugs, performing high-grade robberies, and even the occasional murder. Appalled by this, Jill reported her father to then-Baltimore police chief Daniel Richards. Paul was eventually arrested and sentenced to life in prison. During the trial, Jill was amazed at the job the district attorney had done in trying the case. That, combined with her father’s duplicity, convinced her to pursue a career in the judicial system. She no longer dreamt of late-night stakeouts, chasing down killers in dark alleys and arresting them a la NYPD Blue. No, this time, she was all about The Practice. After getting her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland in 2005, Jill began attending Regent University, looking to get her law degree. But after three semesters there, she was approached by a man named David Gregor, an attorney from the Norfolk division of a law firm named Wolfram & Hart. Apparently, the “Senior Partners” had noticed her hard work, and decided she was fit for an internship with the local branch. The internship didn’t entail much—file paperwork, make necessary changes to files pertinent to certain cases, fetch coffee and blood for employees when they were thirsty…you know, normal internship stuff. After two years, Jill was offered a chance to take a position as attorney at the Las Vegas branch. She accepted, unaware that she would have to pass a test—a test administered by the “Senior Partners”—in order to get the job. She passes, she’s the next hotshot attorney in the world’s biggest law firm. She fails, they…well, they kill her. UPDATE: In 2012, the federal government approached Jill about joining a program called Project Integration, designed around the capture and execution of vampires and demons. Seeing it as her way out of Wolfram & Hart, Jill jumped at the chance -- only to see the project go belly-up over a month later when it became public knowledge. But rather than fire Jill, the U.S. government decided to relocate her to the FBI. Cleaning her record of all the crimes she'd committed (including the murder of the Baltimore Chief of Police), Jill got to start over in Washington D.C. before eventually being reassigned to Chicago.
